CATHEDRAL CHURCH OF ST. JOHN THE DIVINE

The world's largest cathedral, seat of the Bishop of the Episcopal Diocese of New York, begun in 1892 is still unfinished. With soaring Romanesque and Gothic architecture and magnificent stained glass windows, it is 601 feet long. The Statue of Liberty would fit comfortably under its 165 feet high dome. The Cathedral is a vigorous center for worship and the discussion of issues of justice, human rights, global peace and the environment. It features great works of art from Raphael to Keith Haring as well as exhibitions, concerts, performances, family workshops, Bibilical Garden and wandering peacocks. Gift shop, Box Office and Visitor Center open daily from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. and worship services daily. Public Tours Tuesday - Saturday 11:00 a. m. and Sunday 1:00 p.m. No reservations needed.
