Holiday Music Performances

•  The Cathedral of St. John the Divine presents A Cathedral Christmas, on Sunday, December 10th at 3:00 PM. In addition to The Cathedral Choristers, friends of the Cathedral, including gospel singer Teresa Tomason, will appear. Carols drawn from both American and European traditions will be performed, in addition to new carols by Cathedral organist, Timothy Brumfield and singer, James Bassi. Families are welcome at this event.

•  On December 14th, 15th and 16th, The Cathedral will once again host Paul Winter's annual Winter Solstice Concert. As always, Winter has assembled musicians from around the world for the event; guests at this year's performance include Brazilian singer and guitarist Renato Braz and acclaimed double-reed player Paul McCandless. The Paul Winter Consort will also bring their signature blend eclecticism to the show. Because of restoration work at the Cathedral, this year's performance will take place in the crossing and the great choir of the Cathedral; this smaller space will offer a unique and intimate setting for the annual celebration.

•  The Riverside Church's annual Christmas concert, The Christmas Carol Festival, will be performed on December 17th, first at 3:30 pm and again at 6:00 pm. Both performances will feature appearances by the Riverside Choir, Soloists, and Instrumentalists; the Riverside Chamber Singers; the Riverside Ringers; the Riverside Inspirational Choir; The Children's and Youth Choirs.

•  The Riverside Church will also host the New York Philharmonic for several performances of Handel's Messiah. The grand setting of the Riverside Church provides a perfect setting to experience the majesty of Handel's most beloved work. For this year's performances, Harry Bicket conducts. There will be performances on December 20th – 23rd, and on December 25th.
