Bank Street is an internationally recognized leader in early childhood, childhood, and adolescent education. It is a pioneer in improving the quality of classroom education, and is a national advocate for children and families. Bank Street comprises a Division of Children's Programs, a Graduate School, and a Division of Continuing Education, as well as a Publications and Media Group, which produces the highest quality educational materials, and the Bank Street Bookstore, designated by The New York Times as "the best children's bookstore in New York."
Founded in 1916, Bank Street's mission is to improve the education of children and their teachers by applying to the educational process all available knowledge about learning and growth, and by connecting teaching and learning meaningfully to the outside world. In so doing, it seeks to strengthen not only individuals, but the community as well, including family, school, and the larger society in which adults and children, in all their diversity, interact and learn.
